John Jacobsmeyer





John Jacobsmeyer was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1964. He earned his BFA at the University of New Hampshire and his MFA at the Yale University School of Art. His work defies categorization in the sense that it incorporates vast landscapes with absurd imagery and surreal visual clues. A significant amount of work focuses on strange interactions between a GI Joe doll figure and naked humans amid vast American vistas.

The Washington Post critic wrote that "this Joe is buff but not brutal
